Artspace Peterborough's artist-run centre, a non-profit organization committed to nurturing contemporary art and artists.

Canadian Canoe Museum The largest collection of canoes, kayaks and related artifacts in the world.  Much more than canoes, the high quality exhibits are designed to walk you through Canada's history by telling the story of aboriginal peoples, exploration and trade who all depended on Canada's extensive waterways as the highways of the north.

Hutchison House a living history museum, owned and operated by The Peterborough Historical Society, depicts 19th century pioneer life in Ontario.

Peterborough Lift Lock Opened in 1904 and designated as a Canadian National Historic Site, this is the highest hydraulic lift lock in the world.

Peterborough and District Sports Hall of Fame. This is the shrine to all that is sports in and around Peterborough.

Riverview Park and Zoo wonderful zoo close to Trent University. The zoo features 27 exhibits, with over 48 species, including Yak, Camel, Wallaby, Emu, Macaw, Squirrel Monkey, Cougar, Plated Lizard, Meerkat and more!  The park covers 55.5 acres and is the largest and most diversified playground in the city. It also features equipment for physically-challenged children.  With a splash pad, frisbee golf course, walking trails, a miniature train ride, and beautiful gardens the Riverview Park and Zoo has something for everyone.

Festivals and Events

Hand of Man Art and Craft Sale is presented by the Peterborough Guild of Arts and Crafts (PGAC) and is the largest and longest running yearly art and craft sale in Peterborough. Held every last weekend in October at the Morrow Building, 155 Lansdowne St W. 43rd Annual Friday October 25 to Sunday October 27, 2019.

Hogmanay at Hutchison House: January 1st 2019 1-3:30pm  The Scots have been celebrating Hogmanay since the 16th century. Food and celebrations.

Kawartha Craft Beer Festival - June 14 & 15 2019 taking place in the heart of the Kawarthas, the 4th annual Kawartha Craft Beer Festival brings together beer lovers who are ready to sample Ontario’s finest craft beers.  Participants can savour a diverse selection of fresh craft beer, delicious local foods, enjoy live entertainment and have a great time discovering new craft beer flavours! Located in Downtown Peterborough, taking place at Millennium Park, 130 King Street, Peterborough.

MUSE: International Film Festival. Presented by the Peterborough Museum & Archives and the Toronto International Film Festival Group, bringing Canadian and International Film to Peterborough since 1998. Screenings at Galaxy Cinema, Water Street, Peterborough.Occuring during January to April on Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings. Rush tickets are always available at the MUSE Courtesy Desk in Galaxy Theatre, one half hour before each film begins. Cost: $15 (taxes included)

Peterborough Artsweek Sept 21 to September 30, 2018.  Featuring dozens of artists commissioned to create works of art in a variety of mediums, situated all across the city.

Peterborough Children's Water Festival  June 6 & 7th 2018 is an exciting community event that provides local students with the opportunity to discover the importance and diversity of water.

Peterborough Folk Festival - August 16-20 2018 There will be live music, workshops, craft vendors, food vendors, an awesome children’s village, and beautiful weather in the heart of beautiful Peterborough, Ontario along the banks of the Mighty Otonabee River.  We’re one of Canada’s sweetest small festivals, and we’d love to have you join us!

Peterborough Pride Festival September 13-22rd 2019.  2019 marks the 17th Peterborough Pride Festival

Peterborough Pulse - invites the whole city to walk, bike, dance, play and socialize in spaces typically used by cars. For one summer day, George Street transforms into a vibrant car-free corridor filled with families pushing strollers, cyclists and roller-skaters, Karate and Zumba, art and music, and more. 

Peterborough Yoga festival is a community-oriented gathering that is founded upon the vision that yoga, meditation, kirtan, wellness, community connection and fresh air can all amplify love and presence in our beings, in our families and communities and around the world. This event will be hosted on June 22nd, 2019.

ReFrame Peterborough International Film Festival ReFrame celebrates the latest works created by film and video makers from our community, Canada and around the world. We select films that will develop the audience's appreciation and awareness of arts and culture in contemporary media.  January 24th to 27th 2019

Santa Claus Parade - 45th Annual Kinsmen Parade - Starts from City Hall to Morrow Park 4:45 PM to 6:30 PM on Saturday December 1st 2018.

Snofest:  Celebrate the 41st anniversary of Snofest Peterborough with fun events throughout the month of January 2019. Some exciting events planned for this year include: Snofest Family Skate held at the Peterborough Memorial Centre, PJ Story Time for the kids hosted at the Peterborough Public Library, and many more fun events for all the members of the family!

Sparks Photo Festival: is a celebration of photography, and the artists, dreamers, innovators, storytellers, professionals and enthusiasts behind the camera lens.  Every year, the month of April will mark the arrival of numerous photographic exhibits and artists, workshops, lectures and other related
photographic events and activities in locations throughout the Northumberland, Peterborough, and the Kawartha Lakes regions. April 1-30th 2019

Taste of Downtown: will run from 11 am to 5 pm on Saturday June 1st 2019 and features delicious samples from local restaurants, a beer and wine garden, live music, sidewalk sales, local art, and activities for the whole family. Participating retailers will join the restaurateurs, taking to the street with their wares for a sidewalk sale.

Sports and Recreation

Burnham Park quiet spot for a walk in the woods. Stop for a picnic or follow trails that meander through majestic stands of maple, beech, elm and hemlock - among the oldest in Ontario.

Evinrude Centre

Kinsmen Civic Centre Each weeknight and weekend, throughout the winter, the facility is engulfed with minor hockey enthusiasm. Adult hockey is also played on the two ice surfaces with several leagues and tournaments. The Kinsmen Civic Centre is also active in the summer with lacrosse and an adjacent softball diamond.
